Executive Board Positions

Take a closer look at each position with the following descriptions and tasks!

 President (Previous E-Board Members Only)

Description: The CSUN PRSSA chapter president shall act as the principal administrative officer by motivating chapter initiatives among the Executive Board and members of PRSSA, direct overall chapter operations, serve as a liaison with various organizations and work with the board to implement new strategies and initiatives.

Tasks:

  • Oversee Chapter operations

  • Manage all chapter forms, re-registration process, and documents

  • Preside at all membership and Executive Board meetings

  • Appoint committees and advise chairs

  • Promote chapter activities to members 

  • Delegate responsibilities of officers and committees

  • Recommend and establish goals and objectives for the chapter with the approval of the members, faculty and professional advisers

  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Director of Member Services in collecting payments and providing an accurate dues form to PRSSA headquarters by the due dates

  • Stay in contact with the PRSSA National Committee

  • Connect with and build relationships with other Southern California PRSSA chapters to collaborate on coalition events and conferences

 

Vice-President (Previous E-Board Members Only)

Description: The role of Vice-President is present in most of the e-board’s aspects and provides assistance to both the board and members, as well as the President of the chapter. The VP assists when the President is indisposed or unable to perform duties and remains attentive to the needs of the board and chapter members. Some important details of the VP’s role include: Assisting in chapter operations, meetings, and events, addressing and advising for chapter objectives and projects, working with the executive board through chapter goals, encouraging members to participate with PRSSA and working on budget/supporting in treasury duties.

Tasks:

  • Assist the president coordinate and direct committee and chapter activities

  • Perform presidential duties if the President is absent or unable to continue

  • Collaborate with the Executive Board members on chapter tasks.

  • Review and edit chapter documents, presentations, and forms

  • Develop and incorporate new ideas for the chapter

  • Connecting with PRSA members/alumni for chapter objectives

  • Liaison between graduating senior chapter members to PRSA National

  • Connect with and build relationships with other Southern California PRSSA chapters to collaborate on coalition events and conferences

 

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Description: The role of the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging is to allow our PRSSA chapter to sustain a more welcoming and inclusive community; allowing exposure to new perspectives and insights that will enhance our education as strategic communicators and global citizens.

Tasks:

  • Ensure all programming is fair and inclusive to members with diverse interests and backgrounds

  • Aids in recruitment efforts and promotes the PRSSA Diversity Initiative via diverse membership

  • Help provide insight when organizing and executing PRSSA programming to ensure it’s inclusive

  • Create D&I training, educational material and programming

  • Provide the resources, support and mentoring to members that enhance their leadership development.

  • Offer advice and insight when neede to other E-Board members in regards to DEIB related topics

 

Director of Member Services

Description: As Director of Member Services you will be responsible gathering data on memberships, prices, information/events and communicating with PRSSA members.

Tasks:

  • Respond to emails and reach out to those inquiring about PRSSA membership

  • Plan and implement a recruitment plan

  • Sign up all members to the national PRSSA database and renew existing members accounts

  • Collect all membership dues and update databases

  • Share updates on information about PRSSA memberships and events

 

Director of Communications

Description: As Director of Communications, you will administer CSUN PRSSA's communication channels such as the chapter's Discord, email and website. You will be the point-of-contact for all communication related to the channel.

Tasks:

  • Respond to emails

  • Proofread all materials before publishing on any platform (captions for social media posts, blogs, etc.)

  • Send reminders to Executive Board and chapter members about important dates or tasks

  • Update the website with current and relevant information

  • Collaborate with other board members to create campaigns

 

Director of Special Events

Description: Organize and plan PRSSA internal and external events such as meetings, activities, guest speakers, special events, fundraisers and conferences. Encourage team-bonding, networking opportunities and participation in all chapter events.

Tasks:

  • Reach out to professionals to guest speak at events and meetings

  • Coordinate activities to be done during a meeting that correlate to the PR industry

  • Assist in promoting events and weekly meetings

  • Create an organized agenda that lists plans for future meetings and events along with goals

 

Director of Finance

Description: The Director of Finance keeps accurate financial records, coordinates fundraising initiatives, updates expense records, ensures adequate funds are available for the chapter and its programming and provides periodical financial reports.

Tasks:

  • Create and submit the Annual Budget for the next school year 

  • Meet with AS Finance Chair and Director of Finance to process chapter fund requests

  • Budget and monitor chapter finances using appropriate systems and record keeping

  • Work with the President and Vice President to prepare annual plans, budgets, proposals and histories

  • Attend Associated Students meetings regarding budgets

  • Strategize and execute innovative fundraising events for chapter

 

Administrative Coordinator

Description: The Chapter Administrative Coordinator are responsible for keeping accurate records of all E-Board meetings, collateral and upcoming tasks or events. Other duties include organizing PRSSA folders and assisting other E-Board members with any related tasks. 

Tasks:

  • Create infographics and flyers

  • Take role and notes at meetings/events

  • Create surveys and forms

  • Facilitate meetings

  • Assist E-Board members when needed

 

Social Media Chair

Description: The Social Media Chair plays a crucial role in enhancing the online presence and engagement of our PRSSA chapter by developing and implementing effective social media strategies. This position requires a creative and organized individual who can generate captivating content, manage multiple platforms, and engage with our audience to support the chapter's goals.

Tasks:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the chapter's goals

  • Generate, edit, and publish engaging social media content weekly, including original text, photos, videos, and news

  • Create, schedule and monitor posts on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts

  • Analyze social media metrics for improvement

  • Create and maintain a content calendar for social media

  • Collaborate on content generation and stay updated on social media trends

  • Communicate with followers and respond promptly to inquiries or comments
